Kisah Hidup Orang Sukses

Last night I watched Kick Andy, a talk show at metro TV. the guest star was Dahlan Iskan, the current minister of Indonesian BUMN. One thing exposed clearly is the journey of Dahlan Iskan to be as successful as he is now.

in short, he came from a poor family. He could not even finish his university degree. He used to be a farmer, a very poor farmer. He only had one shirt, one pant, no shoes. However, he never felt that he was suffering in his poverty. He enjoyed his life, he just let it flow.

suddenly, my mother commented. She said that she experienced the same thing the minister. yea, she also came from a poor family. my grandparents used to be a poor farmer, from a very small village called Tirto, 90 minutes drive from Yogyakarta. She told me that when she was a child, she had to sell wood, vegetables, and tempe and walked for some kilometers. no shoes, limited clothes, limited food. limited facilities. However, she did not feel that she was suffering. She enjoyed her experience, and sometimes she tells me that she is very grateful that she was given a chance to have such experience of being a very poor person. It makes he tough and it motivates her to work hard.

I hope those examples motivate me for being a successful person. Nothing is impossible, right??
